Nadal Sails Into The Second Round Of The Japan Open

Top-seeded Spaniard, Rafael Nadal won his first round match against Go Soeda of Japan 6-3, 6-2 today, to make it to the second round of the Japan Open tennis tournament at Tokyo.  In the match at Ariake Colosseum, Nadal’s victory came in an hour and 30 minutes.  Nadal wrapped the first set with a perfect lob and won the second set even more easily.  The 10-time Grand Slam champion, will now play Milos Raonic of Canada in the second round.  Raonic won his first round match against Japanese wild card Yuichi Sugita 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-6 (1) to advance into the second round

n another first round match, third-seeded David Ferrer of Spain won against Kei Nishikori of Japan 6-4, 6-3.  The fifth-ranked Ferrer
saved two break points in the final game of the second set, before converting his first match point.  He also saved two break points at
2-2 in the second set, before clinching the next game with a crosscourt forehand winner.

Ivan Dodig of Croatia won his first round match against eighth-seeded Juan Monaco of Argentina 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (1) in 2 hours and 42 minutes. He will take on David Nalbandian of Argentina, after the 2002 Wimbledon finalist, got the better of Lukas Rosol of the Czech
Republic 6-1, 6-1.

Alex Bogomolov Jr. of the United States won his first round match against Jarkko Nieminen of Finland 6-4, 6-4 to make it to the second round of the tournament.

Second-seeded Andy Murray of Britain is scheduled to meet Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus in a first-round match tomorrow.
