T&T win over Chennai Super Kings

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings are virtually out of contention for the semifinals, as they lost the crucial Champions League Twenty20 Group A clash by 12 runs, to Trinidad and Tobago yesterday.

Chasing a modest target of 124, all Chennai could manage was just 111 for six, as the wicket at M A Chidambaram stadium, Chennai was unconducive for batting.

Sunil Narine of T & T, bowled exceptionally well, claiming three wickets and giving away just eight runs in his four overs. Coming into the cruch game, Chennai did well in the first half by restricting the rivals to a paltry 123 for eight. The target could have been even less had they not conceded 49 runs in the last five overs.

T&T scored those 49 runs, largely due to a splendid innings from Kevon Cooper, who hit a 10-ball 28 (three sixes and a four). Opener William Perkins (34) top scored for the T and T, while Adrian Barath (23) also played a useful knock.

Australian paceman Doug Bollinger (3/30) and spinner Shadab Jakati (2/18) bowled well for Chennai in the first half.

Chennai have already lost two of the three matches played.

Dwayne Bravo was the top scorer for Chennai with his unbeaten 32.

Now if the Chennai Super Kings are to make it to the semifinals, they need to win their last match against New South Wales Blues on Tuesdayand expect favourable results from the other matches.

This was T and T’s first win of the tourney and they too stand a chance to qualify for the semifinals as they take on Cape Cobras in
their last group outing on Tuesday.

India Inches Closer To A Clean Sweep

Aided by Varun Aaron’s [3/24] followed by some splendid innings of Virat Kohli [86 not out] and Suresh Raina’s [80] and the 131-run fourth wicket partnership between the two, team India won the fourth one day international against England, at Wankhede stadium yesterday and are now leading 4-0 in the series. India won the match by six wickets with 59 balls to spare.

The Wankhede stadium, Mumbai saw some fine bowling by the Indians due to which the England team was all out for 220 runs in 46.1 overs. For
England who have already lost the series and are playing to salvage some pride, the top scorers were Tim Bresnan [45 runs from 45 balls, 6boundaries] and Kevin Pieterson [41]; Jonathan Trott contributed 39 runs.

Other than Aaron who was making his debut for India, Ashwin too took three wickets conceding 38 runs. In reply, India’s start was not so good but they came back into the game and achieved the target in just 40.1 overs losing just four wickets. Virat Kohli was the top-scorer with 86 runs from 99 balls and also struck the winning boundary. On other hand Raina scored 80 runs from 62 balls with the help of 12 boundaries. The highest wicket takers of the match (three each) Varun Aaron and Steven Finn got all the wickets by clean bowling out the batsmen.

Despite the low target, India didn’t get a good start and lost three wickets by the time the score was 46 runs. Finn bowled out Parthiv Patel [8] in the sixth over and struck the first blow to India. After him Gautam Gambhir too followed suit after scoring just one run. Ajinkya Rahane was the third Indian wicket to fall when the score was close to 50 runs. Rahane faced 37 deliveries, scored 20 runs, was caught behind by wicket keeper Kieswetter off the bowling of Stuart Meeker. After the fall of these three, the in-form Rohit Kohli partnered with Suresh Raina to take India closer to the target. Both played with restraint in the beginning and scored their 50s. Kohli needed 52 deliveries for his half century while Raina took 50.

After scoring his 50, Suresh Raina changed gears and became his explosive self, scoring 30 runs in the next 12 deliveries. Finn was the one to scalp Raina, who was clean bowled by him with a yorker. Captain Dhoni who replaced Raina ensured that no further wicket fell and team India sailed comfortably to victory. Dhoni scored 15 runs from 18 deliveries with the help of a four and a six.

Sania Loses In Second Round – French Open Super Series Badminton

India’s ace shuttler Saina Nehwal has lost her second round match against China’s Jurui Lee in straight sets on Thursday in Paris. Thursday was a bad day for India. India’s Ajay Jairam lost his match in men’s singles while Commong Wealth Games’ gold medallists Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa lost their second round doubles matches too. With these losses India’s campaign in this tournament comes to an end.

Fourth seeded Saina lost her match in 48 minutes in straight sets 18-21, 29-30. This is the second time in two weeks that Saina has lost her second round match and has been eliminated from the finals. Saina had won her first round match in just 29 minutes against Jee Yao, 21-14, 21-19. Having been eliminated in the second round of the Denmark Open last week Saina was hopeful of a better performance here.

India’s Jairam had defeated compatriot Guruvar.M.V.Saidutt in the first round and had booked his berth in the second round. In the second round Jairam had lost his match to the sixth seeded China’s Jin Chen in 46 minutes by 19-21, 14-21 and was thus eliminated from the tournament. In the women’s competition India’s Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa have lost their second round matches to Korea’s Jung Iun Ha and Ming Jung Kim in just 27 minutes by 13-21, 12-21.

Nadal Sails Into The Second Round Of The Japan Open

Top-seeded Spaniard, Rafael Nadal won his first round match against Go Soeda of Japan 6-3, 6-2 today, to make it to the second round of the Japan Open tennis tournament at Tokyo. In the match at Ariake Colosseum, Nadal’s victory came in an hour and 30 minutes. Nadal wrapped the first set with a perfect lob and won the second set even more easily. The 10-time Grand Slam champion, will now play Milos Raonic of Canada in the second round. Raonic won his first round match against Japanese wild card Yuichi Sugita 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-6 (1) to advance into the second round

n another first round match, third-seeded David Ferrer of Spain won against Kei Nishikori of Japan 6-4, 6-3. The fifth-ranked Ferrer
saved two break points in the final game of the second set, before converting his first match point. He also saved two break points at
2-2 in the second set, before clinching the next game with a crosscourt forehand winner.

Ivan Dodig of Croatia won his first round match against eighth-seeded Juan Monaco of Argentina 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (1) in 2 hours and 42 minutes. He will take on David Nalbandian of Argentina, after the 2002 Wimbledon finalist, got the better of Lukas Rosol of the Czech
Republic 6-1, 6-1.

Alex Bogomolov Jr. of the United States won his first round match against Jarkko Nieminen of Finland 6-4, 6-4 to make it to the second round of the tournament.

Second-seeded Andy Murray of Britain is scheduled to meet Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus in a first-round match tomorrow.

Death at age 74 of Vasant Ranjane Face Bowler in Cricket

Vasant Ranjane, had been a former India medium-pacer, has died at the age of 74 in Pune. Ranjane 1958 and 1964 and played seven Tests for India between state and first-class cricket from 1956 to 1971 represented the railway. “He [Ranjane] had been ill from some time and was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic, where he died,” said Surendra Bhave former Maharashtra opener. Ranjane 1956-57 a successful debut in the first class, when the Saurashtra against Maharashtra for 36 to 35 and took 4 to 9.

He made two years after the first Test against West Indies, but in 1961-62, when England visited India did not play each other. Ranjane as a fitter worked for Indian Railways in 1994 and has been retired. Chandu Borde, who played Ranjane first class and Test cricket as a bowler with the excellent line and length were all missing. “We played for the club, he played for vilas CC and Maharashtra,” Borde said. “He [Ranjane] a very good bowler, the best fast bowler in the country has produced.

Vasant Ranjane’s line and length was impressive, he is always there on the spot. It would upset all the top batsmen with his bowling. Sunil Gavaskar has paid tribute to Ranjane. “My poignant sympathies are with his family.

Sehwag Became a Superstar of Ad World

After hitting a massive double century the day before yesterday in Indore, Virender Sehwag demands have rapidly increased in the advertising world also. His wonderful and outstanding innings at Indore results in making him a superstar in the ad world also.

Sehwag told to the media about it that his mobile is flooded with more than 800 messages after that inning and he currently do not known how many of such messages were from the corporate market or from advertisers. His managers, Professional Management Groups which is also known as PMG told that many advertisers want to sign him and Sehwag will be going to have a shot with many brands before leaving Australia on December 12th.

PMG also told to the media that “Sehwag’s interest level among advertisers has grown rapidly and he has given a perfect answer from his bat to the detractors who uses to say that now he can’t get more runs in One Day Internationals.”

PMG CEO told that Sehwag will be going to sing around 4 to 5 deals of around Rs 10 crore a year with an estimated annual fess per deal of around 2 crore to Rs 2.5 crore of every brand name for which he will be going to work. He will work with the top brands like Adidas, Karbonn Mobiles, Hero Moto Corporation as well as Royal Challengers and with such brands he will work for a very long time.

As per the Karbonn Mobile Company, Sehwag’s promotion of their brand names and his appeal to huge mass helpful in increasing their brand recall value also. This is really amazing news for such brand names and shocking news for other branded company who emerges as a competitor of such companies today. Well! Let us see that will Sehwag accept another brand’s deals apart from it in future or not.
